Velkommen til Norge!

This won’t be too long because the jet lag is real at the moment, but we’ve arrived in Norway. I feel…just really happy to be here. There’s just something that feels right about it.

It probably seems like a small thing to folks who don’t experience difficulties with their names, but I’m pretty excited to be in a place where my name is normal and people can spell and pronounce it correctly. I have always been grateful to my parents for giving me what has been a unique name in the context of America, but I somehow feel even prouder carrying it here. There’s an immediate sense of belonging that comes from it.

I’m excited to get to explore Oslo for the next couple of days before we head over to Sogndal. Our hotel is located right next to the central train terminal, and it looks like there is some pretty neat stuff in the immediate vicinity. Too much to cover in this short jaunt, but we’ll drink in as much as we can.

Til neste gang!

(And to my dad and former Norwegian professor—both of whom are reading this blog!—I’ll try not to be an embarrassment with my very limited language ability!)
